Skydive Fiji 13,000ft Legend Tandem Jump - 60 Seconds Freefall over Denarau

The Legend jump is Skydive Fiji’s highest altitude offering — 13,000 feet, approximately 60 seconds of freefall, landing on Denarau Island. It’s not the highest skydive commercially available in the world, but the backdrop is arguably better: Mamanuca Islands, Denarau’s fringing reef, and the colour gradient of Fijian lagoon water visible from altitude in a way that’s simply not replicable from the ground.

Skydive Fiji is the longest-operating tandem skydiving company in Fiji, with internationally licensed instructors and MSAF-certified pilots. They operate out of Nadi and land on Denarau — that specific combination, flying over reef and landing on an island strip, is what makes this jump distinctively Fijian.

Jump options at a glance

NameAltitudeFreefall
Radical10,000ft~30 seconds
Extreme12,000ft~45 seconds
Legend13,000ft~60 seconds

All three are tandem jumps with the same instructors and aircraft. The only variable is altitude and therefore freefall duration. Going higher adds time in the air; it doesn’t meaningfully increase the physical difficulty or risk profile for a tandem jump.

What the day looks like

Pickup or meeting at the office

Hotel pickup is included from Nadi and Denarau area hotels — be in your lobby 15 minutes before the scheduled time. Outside this zone (Coral Coast, Pacific Harbour, other areas) you’ll need to make your own way to the Denarau Road office.

The office is on Denarau Road on the right side just before the bridge to Denarau Island from Nadi. Multiple reviews note it’s easy to find and the team is visible from the road.

Check-in, paperwork, and safety briefing

The briefing covers body position at exit, what freefall feels like physically, and canopy ride procedures. It’s straightforward and takes about 20 minutes. Instructors are consistently described in reviews as calm, reassuring, and fluent across multiple languages — Skydive Fiji staff include English, Hindi, Fijian, Japanese, and Chinese speakers.

The plane ride

You’ll fly in a Cessna. The climb to 13,000 feet takes time — use it. The views of the coast, the reef, and the Mamanuca Islands on a clear day are striking from altitude even before you jump. Multiple reviewers describe feeling almost at peace during the ascent, which is not what they expected.

Exit and freefall

The step out of the plane is the mental barrier. Once you’re in freefall, the physical experience is all wind noise, speed, and the specific rush of your body not knowing what to do with itself. At ~60 seconds, the 13,000ft jump gives you enough time to actually process what’s happening — unlike the shorter freefall options where it ends before the brain catches up.

Canopy ride and landing

After the parachute deploys, everything quiets abruptly. The canopy ride lasts several minutes. Most instructors offer guests the opportunity to help steer. The landing is Denarau Island — views of the resort strip, the marina, and the lagoon on approach.

Beach landings are sometimes possible depending on wind direction and landing setup. Several reviewers describe touching down on sand. It’s not guaranteed — treat it as a possible bonus.

Photo and video packages

All packages are on USB:

  • Hand Cam Video OR Stills: FJD $245
  • Hand Cam Video AND Stills (Combo): FJD $314
  • Ultimate Package (outside camera flyer + handycam combo, video and photos): FJD $565

The outside camera flyer is a separate camera person who jumps alongside you, giving angles that the wrist-mounted handycam can’t capture.

Most guests who skip the media package wish they hadn’t. You don’t get a second chance at the footage. The Ultimate Package is expensive; the basic combo at FJD $314 is what most guests describe as “worth it.”

What to bring and wear

  • Closed-toe shoes (essential — if you arrive in open-toe footwear, advise the team and they may assist)
  • Comfortable fitted clothing — nothing loose (wind speed during freefall exceeds 200 km/h)
  • Hair tie for long hair
  • No jewelry or loose items in pockets
  • Light snack before arrival (don’t jump on a completely empty or very full stomach)

Practical notes

Weather: Skydive Fiji operates on all flyable days but may pause for weather. This is normal and doesn’t mean the operation is unreliable — it means they don’t take unnecessary risks. Allow schedule flexibility, especially in wet season.

Total time commitment: approximately 2 hours from arrival to completion in normal conditions. Allow more flexibility in your day’s schedule.

Solo bookings: if you book as a single person, the team actively matches solo jumpers together so no one has to wait unnecessarily. One reviewer specifically thanked the staff for pairing them with another solo jumper the same morning.

FAQs

Should I choose the 10,000ft or 13,000ft?

For first-time jumpers who can afford the premium, the 13,000ft option is recommended by most who’ve done both: the extra 30 seconds of freefall is the difference between “I barely had time to process it” and “I actually got to experience it.” The Fiji backdrop rewards the extra altitude.

Can I tandem jump if I have a fear of heights?

Multiple first-timers with stated height phobias describe jumping anyway and being surprised. Fear of heights is typically triggered by a visible edge with nothing beneath you — standing at a cliff, looking over a railing. At 13,000ft in an aircraft, your brain doesn’t process height the same way. The instructors are experienced with anxious jumpers.

Is there a minimum age?

There’s no stated minimum beyond the parental consent requirement for under-18s. Children between 6–18 require written consent and are subject to the instructor’s safety assessment on the day.
